met some cool families

When we went to my Aunt and Uncle's place (during our Utah visit) I wasn't expecting this sight.  There are geese and ducks everywhere.  They live there year round, how cool would that be?!  Well, except for the poop, unless you're in the midst of toilet training, in which case you might feell right at home.

We learned that the geese mate for life (unless one of them dies--then the other will, I guess--re-mate).  I absolutely love how the geese stay in families.  The father keeps an eye out and lures threatening predators away (not us, yay!) while the mother sits on them.  After they're born, the mother will lead them to water and the father follow them.  Both the mother and father watch over the young til they're ready to leave the flock.

Geese and their traditional families.
Beautiful.

I read this quote today, made me think of families.
